Pigeon Bagels is a certified Kosher bagel and coffee shop located in the Squirrel Hill neighborhood of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Formerly a pop-up bakery, Pigeon Bagels and Coffee opened its first brick-and-mortar store in 2019.

Pigeon Bagels is known for their fresh-out-of-the-oven bagels. The bagels are take-out only and available for pre-order on their website or in-store. Pigeon Bagels has a variety of flavors of bagels, schmears (cream cheeses), baked goods, coffee, espresso, and tea. The coffee is supplied by another local small business, Redhawk Coffee.

Pigeon Bagels also offers lox, homemade, pickles, capers, and pickled onions. Some of the bagel selections include the classic everything bagel, plain, garlic and sea salt, and poppy. The schmears come in a variety of fig and honey, beet, ramp, plain, jalapeĂąo- cashew, tofu, and Lox schmear.

The owner and operator, Gabrielle, “Gab” Taube, started making bagels at home using simple ingredients, which she has maintained with her “no frills” kosher bagels. As she made them, they became increasingly popular amongst her friends and family and began to distribute them to dozens of local coffee shops, restaurants and markets. At her pop-ups she would sell up to 900 bagels in a weekend. The brick-and-mortar bagel shop is an exciting addition to the Squirrel Hill community, especially since Taube’s family is from the neighborhood.

Described as a “favorite morning spot” by local residents, Pigeon Bagels is a must try when visiting Pittsburgh.
