The World Kite Museum has been showcasing beautiful and unusual uses for kites for over 30 years. Today, the museum has more than 1500 kites from 26 countries. Inside, you’ll see the World Kite Hall of Fame and rotating exhibits on topics such as war kites, leaf kites, miniature kites, and kite stamps. The affordable admission price also includes an opportunity to make your own kite to fly on the windy peninsula beaches, or you can buy a pre-made kite at the gift shop.
The museum offers several annuals events. The most well known is the Washington State Kite Festival, a week-long kiting celebration and competition held each year during the third full week of August. On the second Sunday in October, the museum participates in the International Kite Fly for Peace with the global kite festival One Sky One World. They also hold a Windless Kite Festival in January and an Asian New Year Kite Festival in February, among other pop-up events.
