Titled simply, “Whale,” this 9-foot bronze sculpture of a gray whale stands in Whale Park. It commemorates the January 8, 1806 visit of Expedition members led by William Clark to see the remains of a beached whale at a place they would call Ecola after the Indian term for the great beast.
