Located in southeastern Ohio, Wayne National Forest is one of the most wonderful natural areas to visit in the Marietta area. A perk to visiting the forest is that there are multiple trail systems where riding horses is encouraged and accessible. Additionally, visitors can also enjoy camping in the forest. Camping is permitted year-round. Should you be interested in swimming, the peak times to visit and swim are in July and August! There are over 160,000 acres and 300 miles of trails to explore in the Wayne National Forest. The trails are also additionally open to RVs and mountain bikers! There are also three additional canoeable rivers: the Little Muskingum River on the Marietta unit, the Hocking River on the Athens unit, and Symmes Creek on the Ironton District. All three provide a tranquil float, ideal for family canoeing If you are interested in learning more, make sure to visit the website at: https://www.fs.usda.gov/wayne.
