Take a drive along the Ohio River as it passes through the Switzerland County and see why the county was recently designated as part of the Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail Experience.
The river town of Vevay is on the National Register of Historic Places. The history, shopping, and cuisine found here are wonderful. Our festivals are unique, the shopping is fun, and the dining is international. Our Community Art Center features local artists with displays of jewelry, paintings, pottery and other tasteful designs. Stop by the Ridge Winery tasting room, part of the Indiana Wine Trail, for a taste of award-winning local wines.
Our museums have displays about life on the Ohio River, as well as local history. 2 sites on the National Historical Register offer glimpses of life in the early and mid-1800’s, one complete with a hay press that was used in the early 1800s. Paul Ogle Park, situated on the Ohio River, has campgrounds and boat launches for your use.
