The USS Requin is a Tench-class submarine that was launched in 1945 but never saw action since the war was won by the Allies just 6 days before it was expected to leave for the Pacific. The submarine was operational until 1968 and joined several important missions around the world, when it was decommissioned, and it eventually made its way to Pittsburgh in the 1990s, where it is now open for tours for visitors to learn about life aboard a submarine and underwater in the twentieth century.
The USS Requin may be found behind the Carnegie Science Center and is included in the admission charge. If you do not want to visit the museum, you can visit the USS Requin on its own.
