Built in 1911, and on the National Register of Historic Places, the Hood River Hotel is the place to stay in Hood River, Oregon. Sweeping views of the city and Columbia Gorge are just the beginning.

Located in the center of downtown, the hotel is nestled amidst local artisan shops, eateries, wineries, brew pubs and a myriad of outdoor adventure destinations. A visit to the Hood River Hotel means having out-your-door access to all that Hood River has to offer. Enjoy food and drink from the hotel’s European inspired hideaway Broder Ost, the dry room sauna to unwind from the days adventures, or chill in the hotel’s gorgeous lobby reading, playing games and watching the day go by.

The original Mt. Hood Hotel dates back to 1888, the year the town of Hood River was founded. Strategically adjacent to the railroad depot, the hotel was considered the social center of Hood River. It was here where explorers and settlers alike gathered together to discuss business, eat, drink, and rest. As word spread throughout the country of the region’s successful fruit industry and scenic beauty, the town began to flourish. Finally in 1912, the Mt. Hood Hotel expanded with an Annex which is now today’s Hood River Hotel. In 1926 the main lobby was moved to the Annex. The new lobby opened on the same day as the dedication of the newly completed Mt. Hood Loop Highway symbolizing the transition from a community dependent on the railroad to the automobile. In the 1930’s the original hotel building was demolished leaving the Annex in operation until the 1960s. It was restored and reopened in 1988-89 by a local developer.
