Originally built in 1864, the Carson House welcomes visitors to learn more about life in the nineteenth century on Nebraska’s eastern border. The Brownville Historical Society operates seven museum sites including the Carson House, where visitors can explore and learn about the history of Nebraska and the United States. The Carson House itself preserves its colorful Victorian style, with many of the original furnishings remaining in the house. With much of the house remaining the same as it was when the Carson family lived there, this museum is a time capsule that brings visitors back to the past. Brownville’s Museums, including the Carson House, are open on weekends in the summer, and admission is always free.
