The beautiful life size bronze statue of Sacajawea and her son Pomp is in a wonderful little pocket Park on Main street in Darby, Montana. The statue is a replica of the original work by Jim Demetro located at Fort Clatsop, Astoria, Oregon.
This is a must stop in Darby, Montana on your way north in the Bitterroot Valley, Montana if coming from the Big Hole on Highway 43 to Highway 93, or Salmon Idaho northbound on Highway 93. If headed south from Glacier to Yellowstone, you will also pass Sacajawea Rest in Darby on your right a little after you pass the post office.
A great place to stop and have a packed lunch. Or walk a short distance further down Main Street and get lunch to go from the Blue Joint restaurant on the right going south or from Momma Annes across the street on tour left. Wildflower Boutique on Main has wonderful hand made candy as well as seasonal huckleberry cinnamon rolls. Not to mention a darling boutique!
