One of the biggest draws of the Columbia River Gorge is the landscape. The river flowing through the steep cliffs on either side makes it a captivating place to admire. The best way to get the full scale of the gorge is to drive up to one of the many scenic viewpoints along the highway, and few are better than the Rowena Crest Viewpoint. The lookout provides a great view of the landscape, but one of the equally popular spots at the viewpoint is the photographer’s famous hairpin turn, a bend in the historic highway that makes a perfect horseshoe shape that is perfect for Instagram photos, or professional pictures. Whether it’s the fall foliage, the spring blossoms, or the seasons in between, the turn is the perfect photo spot to showcase the beauty of the area. Aside from that, you can enjoy a picnic at the top of the hill, or hike around the nearby fields of flowers. Whenever you visit, it will not disappoint.
