The River Discovery Center (RDC) is a museum for people of all ages to understand and appreciate our inland waterways, their history, industry, ecology, and economic impact. The RDC is where rivers tell their tales through interactive, hands-on exhibits and award-winning educational programs. Our museum and programs create a unique learning environments to showcase the cultures of the four rivers region and enhance the quality of life for the people of Paducah and beyond.
The River Discovery Center is housed in a federal-style building that is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The building is the oldest in downtown Paducah dating pre-Civil War and was completely restored in 2000. The beautifully furnished upstairs overlooks the confluence of the Ohio and Tennessee rivers and is restored to a Victorian era look. After visiting us, walk across our cobblestone street to view Paducah’s Flood Wall, which is decorated with Dafford Murals that tell the history of Paducah. Enjoy lunch on the riverwalk, or visit the many amazing locally owned restaurants in our downtown area.
