The canoe accident described above occurred at the mouth of Colter’s Creek—today’s Potlatch River. Located on the hills above this confluence sits the Rivaura Estate Vineyard and Winery. This winery serves up superior wines including Grenache, Syrah, Viognier and Rose in a tasting room overlooking the rapids of the Clearwater River.
Note: For years, the nearby Colter’s Creek Winery was a favorite among Lewis and Clark fans, but unfortunately a fire destroyed their vines, buildings, and stock. As of this writing, they do not intend to reopen.
