In 1933, Joe Primanti opened up a small sandwich cart in Pittsburgh’s historic Strip District that fed people fresh off of their long work shifts. Though this was during Great Depression times, the area remained greatly alive and sales flourished, allowing Joe the opportunity to open up a storefront. There are now countless locations across Pennsylvania and surrounding areas, however Pittsburgh will always be home to the original.
If you’re looking for a massive sandwich, plenty of good beer options, or a lively environment to watch any games, this is undoubtedly the place to be! Their famous sandwich is often composed of meat of your choice, house-made coleslaw, tomatoes, cheese, and the best part: fries (on the sandwich, not on the side!). All of this is then surrounded by fresh Italian bread. If sandwiches aren’t your thing, their menu also hosts plenty of options such as salads, pizza, wings, and other various appetizers.
After a long day of exploring all of the great areas Pittsburgh has to offer, Primanti Bros. will always hit the spot. For a menu, location options, or more information, visit https://primantibros.com.
