Phillips County Museum
The Phillips Country Museum and H.G. Robinson House & Gardens feature dinosaurs, the local Assiniboine and Gros Ventres tribes, cowboys and outlaws, and pioneer life.
“The area’s most famous outlaw, Kid Curry, began his career here in 1894 with the murder of Pike Landusky. In 1901 Kid Curry and his gang, ‘The Wild Bunch’, robbed a train west of Malta. Rare artifacts from these incidents are on display, including photographs, newspaper clippings, wanted posters, and pistols.
In 1898 Eliza (Garland) and Herman G. Robinson shipped out a mail-order home on the railroad and constructed it on the frontier prairie. It was situated with the front porches facing south, viewing the Great Northern Railway lines and railroad depot, and “Siding 54” later known as the town of Malta. To the north lay the banks of the Milk River. They raised three daughters and a son at the old beautiful home. It remains one of the finest examples of early architecture in the town of Malta.”
