An extensive green space dedicated to outdoor education, OPPD Arboretum is the perfect place to learn more about native wildlife or enjoy time outside. Operated by the Omaha Public Power District, the park is open to the public daily, from dawn until dusk. Within the park are trees and shrubs recommended for use in southeast Nebraska. Visitors can learn about safety issues associated with planting trees and shrubs near electrical equipment, and also how trees and shrubs can conserve energy. This park emphasizes the tree and powerline interaction, but also contains an outdoor classroom, a formal planting area, erosion-control plantings, a substation overlook, and more. Learn more about how plants and electricity interact in this free and educational arboretum.
