Mandan Rodeo Days

Born in 1879 as a 4th of July celebration with baseball and pony races, the Mandan Rodeo has grown into a historic event featuring thrilling bronc riding, bull riding, and much more.  From its origins in 1879, including the first bronc riding competition in 1882, to the creation of the Heart River Roundup in 1923, the Mandan Rodeo has been shaped by community leaders and rodeo legends. In 1989, the rodeo was the crown jewel of North Dakota’s centennial celebration. Now a premier event in professional rodeo, it attracts over 500 cowboys and cowgirls competing for more than $160,000 in prize money, thanks to generous local sponsors.
