The Harrison County community of Logan was named after Union Army General John A. Logan. It is the only Iowa community to be located on three byways – the Loess Hills National Scenic Byway, the Western Skies Scenic Byway, and the Lincoln Highway Heritage Byway. With these three byways and the Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail nearby, visitors may think that all roads lead to Logan!

For the traveler who bleeds red, white, and blue, Logan is the place to be on Independence Day! A multi-day celebration of our nation, Logan’s July 4th Celebration is a festive family atmosphere. With a parade, car show, “Pack the Park” gathering, games, food, shopping, music, a beer garden, and family activities, there are activities for the entire family! To end the festivities, a firework show tops it off. This celebration is the talk of Harrison County!

Other attractions in Logan include:

  • the annual Hillclimb Championship, a spring event featuring motorcycle hill climbing at the Logan Rock Quarry,
  • the historic county courthouse, which features a beautiful rotunda and murals,
  • the crowning of the Harrison County Fair King and Queen,
  • the 9-hole Logan-Missouri Valley Country Club,
  • Milliman Park, which is perfect for outdoor activities such as a bonfire
  • Logan City Park, which boasts and amphitheater as well a playground, basketball court, and two picnic shelters.

If you choose to stay here as you wander the Lewis and Clark Trail, the Logan Rooms Motel and the Blue Bird Run Farm are local lodging options. And when you’re hungry, fill up at any of the five restaurants for a bit of small-town flavor.
