From Addax to Yellow Tang, with elephants, snakes, and tigers in between, the Kansas City Zoo is home to more than 1,700 animals. Stand face-to-face with over 200 species of animals and visit more than 200 acres of exhibits and attractions. Special exhibits include the Polar Bear Passage, Africa, Australia, the Tiger Trail, the Helzberg Penguin Plaza, and the Great Ape House. With a dedication to conservation that seeks to preserve the diversity of species and conserve resources, the Zoo raises thousands of dollars to protect animals in their natural habitats. Additionally, the Sobela Ocean Aquarium is now open, with nearly 8,000 animals in 34 habitats “bringing the ocean to the Midwest.” Entry to the Aquarium is included with Zoo admission, with kid-friendly exhibits making the Kansas City Zoo and Aquarium perfect for family adventures.
