Honeybees in the Heartland

A county-wide public art project, Honeybees in the Heartland celebrates the beloved pollinators of Nemaha County. With 26 unique honeybee sculptures, this art experience pays tribute to the state’s agricultural community and honors Nebraska’s state insect, the honeybee. The town of Auburn is the heart of this display, with the majority of the sculptures. Other sculptures are located nearby, making it a fun adventure to find all 26. The sculptures were sponsored by local businesses, organizations, and individuals who chose the design and landing place of their bee. Then, the sculptures were painted by a variety of artists, most with local connections. Visit the honeybees to discover for yourself why “Nemaha County is the Place to Bee!”
