The United States’ 38th president was born in Omaha, and the site has now been turned into a memorial with public gardens. While the original Victorian house of Ford’s grandparents was lost in a fire, a replica turret contains information about the site and presidential memories. Next, visitors will find a colonnade and Rose Garden modeled after the White House, which is dedicated in honor of Betty Ford. With more than 170 rose bushes and 22 flowerbeds, this remembrance of the former president contains a sprawling garden that is open to the public year round. Next to the site is the Gerald R. Ford Conservation Center which preserves historic and artistic works and is open by appointment only.
