Part of the Fort Omaha Historic District, this museum illustrates how a commanding officer lived on the Western Frontier in the 1880s. The Italianate-style house was originally built in 1879 and has been authentically restored. General George Crook was a veteran of the Civil War and the American Indian Wars. The house contains antique furnishings and a garden with more than 100 heirloom species. During the holiday season, the house is transformed with decorations and special events. The house is open seven days a week, with no advance tickets or reservations required. Self-guided tours with information are available, as are docent-led tours. As part of the museum’s commitment to living history, experience special events including a Victorian Afternoon Tea service and a Frontier Dinner, which can be booked online.
