The Fort Pitt Museum serves as a reminder of the historical significance associated with the Forks of the Ohio River. Located in historic Point State Park in downtown Pittsburgh, this museum tells the story of Western Pennsylvania’s pivotal role during the French & Indian War, the American Revolution, as well as the birth of Pittsburgh itself.
Since opening in 1969, the Fort Pitt Museum has been enhancing visitors’ knowledge of the historical significance behind this specific location. The museum offers interactive exhibitions, life-like historical figures, and recently added artifacts, all working towards enhancing knowledge about the importance of this region!
Join us for our Living History events, which incorporate actors and performances to create a more “real” learning experience. At these events, you experience the sights and sounds of what it was like in an 18th-century fort. You’ll be able to watch re-enactments of the Royal American Regiment demonstrate the proper way to fire a musket while surrounded by the sounds of axes creating firewood and the smell of an 18th-century campfire. These events happen on select weekends throughout the summer so check out the website to see how you experience this enthralling event.
