In late September and early October 1803, Meriwether spent at least five days in Cincinnati before traveling to Big Bone Lick at the bequest of President Thomas Jefferson. The Museum of Natural History will help you understand his visit to those fossil diggings. If the Museum Center existed then, he certainly would not have missed seeing it!
