Built in 1880, the original Boldman house was a small three bedroom structure owned by a respected Dayton business man. By 1909, the house was renovated and expanded to the Queen Anne style, and has remained nearly untouched ever since. Stephen Boldman, a Columbia County farmer, purchased the house in 1912, and it remained in the family for the next 87 years. In 1999, Miss Gladys Boldman donated the house to the Dayton Historical Depot Society. The Society established the Boldman House Committee which continues to ensure that the house is restored in the 1912 style and used as a community resource, as per Gladys Boldman’s requests. Visitors can tour the inside of the historic house to see Boldman family artifacts, including clothes, furniture, and hand written letters. On the outside of the estate, visitors can enjoy a 1912 style garden and a 1934 Chevrolet Master Deluxe.
