You probably already know that Lewis and Clark encountered Native Americans on their journey. But did you know that Lewis, Clark, and the Corps of Discovery came into direct contact with around 50 Native American Nations? It is important for us to know that Native Americans played a very important role by helping the Corps of Discovery survive the expedition. During this class we will learn about some of the different nations who were living west of the Mississippi River, which nations were helpful, and just how important their help was.
