Goldsmith’s Bed and Breakfast

Goldsmith’s Bed and Breakfast is located on the banks of the Clark Fork River, not far from where it’s believed Lewis and Clark camped, near the confluence of the Clark Fork River and Rattlesnake Creek.

Goldsmith’s Bed and Breakfast is located on the Riverfront Trail, just blocks from downtown Missoula and the University of Montana. Guests can walk to dining, shopping, and events, or just relax on the front porch overlooking the river.

Originally built in 1908 for the second President of the University of Montana, the home has seen numerous reincarnations, once even a frat house. In 1988, the building was slated for demolition to expand university parking. Amidst community outcry over the planned destruction of the historic and beautiful home, the Inn was saved by the Goldsmiths. In order to preserve the home, the Goldsmiths undertook an audacious plan to move the 4000 square foot house from the southern edge of campus to the northern banks of the Clark Fork River.

At the start of COVID, and the uncertainties and safety precautions that became a necessity of daily life, nearly all the units have been updated into self-sufficient apartments, each with its own kitchen and laundry.
