Point Park
Carrollton’s Point Park is located at the confluence of the Kentucky and Ohio Rivers. In 1790 General Charles Scott built an elevated and fortified blockhouse on this site as a base for his Kentucky volunteers. General Scott would later become the Governor of Kentucky from 1808-1812. In 1805 The Point House was built on the site of General Scott’s blockhouse. This well-known tavern was frequented by George Rogers Clark and other explorers. A historical marker now denotes the location of these pivotal buildings in our small town’s history.
Current amenities at Point Park include a boat ramp (no launch fee), a 200′ boat dock, a splash park, a sand volleyball court, soccer goals, a basketball court, a skateboard park, and a playground. Several shelters are available as are restrooms for guests. You may also wish to stroll along the paved river walk or take a break on the swing or one of the various benches stationed along the way.
