By means of a quick southwestern detour from the Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail, visitors will find the Idaho State Museum. Managed by the Idaho State Historical Society, the museum emphasizes the important connection that residents have with the land. The museum originally opened in 1950, but renovations have been made that have only enhanced the visitor experience even more. Today, it is the perfect place to learn about any and everything Idaho!Ā

The museum provides visitors of all ages with information about the state and story of Idaho. With specific focuses on settlements, agriculture, land management, landscapes, state parks, and the Oregon Trail, the museum provides a look at how truly important Idaho has been in many lives. The museum offers different exhibits, artifacts, and programming to provide visitors with both an interactive and informative experience. Virtual or on-site ā€œfield tripsā€ are also available to enhance childrenā€™s experiences at the museum.Ā
