The encounter between the Lewis and Clark Expedition and the Blackfeet Tribe (Niitsitapi) is one of the most significant in the history of the Corps of Discovery’s journey (1804–1806). The Blackfeet’s relationship with British and Canadian fur traders shaped their response to Lewis and Clark.
Faught’s Blackfeet Trading Post is a hidden gem in Browning, Montana just 10 miles East of Glacier National Park. Named after the Blackfeet Tribe and the Blackfeet Indian Reservation it resides on. This store offers a wide variety of unique goods and amenities. Shop Indigenous-made crafts, lotions, t-shirts, beading supplies, and various souvenirs and gifts.
While the store was only opened in 1946, the Blackfeet people have been settled in Montana since the 17th century. Faught’s Blackfeet Trading Post offers rich literature on the history of the Blackfeet Tribe and even offers a dictionary of Blackfeet terms and titles. Step into and explore the store from Tuesdays to Saturdays and indulge in the authentic goods this rare
store has to offer.
