- Location: 8700 Southwest Sweek Drive, Tualatin, OR, USA (View on Google Maps) Start Date: December 7, 2024
- Start Time: 2:00 pm
- End Time: 6:00 pm
Composer Justin Ralls will present on his exciting project in development, Nu Nah-Hup: Sacajawea’s Story, an historic opera collaboration with Rose Ann Abrahamson (Shoshone descendent of Sacajawea) and Shoshone-Navajo-Okanogan Native American flutist and composer, Hovia Edwards. This project portrays the story of Sacajawea through the Indigenous perspective of her familial descendants. Dr. Ralls will speak to the project’s role in Agai’dika/Lemhi-Shoshone language and culture preservation and the intersection of oral history, the Lewis & Clark journals, and the role of the performing arts in empowering Indigenous voices and challenging historic narratives.
Menu will include wild caught salmon and other tastes the Corps of Discovery would have preferred under better circumstances that Christmas 1805. The December gathering also includes the chapter’s annual meeting to elect officers and a silent auction. Consider bringing guests to join the fun. Tualatin Heritage Center, is located at 8700 SW Sweek Drive, Tualatin.
