Williston hosts the annual North Dakota Chokecherry Festival honoring the official state fruit—the chokecherry—a designation that was made possible by letters written by the town’s 6th graders. Food, including the traditional free 1,000 Burger Feed and pancakes with chokecherry syrup, is available throughout the festival. Additional food and craft vendors are located inside the park. For competitive visitors, the Chokecherry 5k or 1 Mile Fun Run allows participants to take in the small-town charm of Williston. Or, take part in the annual cornhole tournament with prizes for top places. The chokecherry pit spitting contest, live performances, and fun kid activities make this Festival a perfect way to spend a summer weekend.
