Tribal Lands

Lewis and Clark’s complex relationship with the native peoples they encountered on their journey is an important part of the story of the Expedition.  Today, the Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail crosses or abuts fifteen sovereign tribal lands. Many of these offer opportunities for visitors to learn about Lewis and Clark from the perspective of the peoples they encountered.

The American Indian and Alaska Native Tourism Association (AIANTA) offers more information about tourism experiences on Native lands.  Explore Native America >

Tribal partners are invited to nominate destinations and experiences along the Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail to be featured on this website.  Nominate a Destination or Experience >
