Whispering Pines Bed and Breakfast
This B&B is located in a Victorian Era farmhouse was built in 1878. The main floor is decorated in classic formal Victorian style with original dark woodwork framing the doorways, transoms, and lace adorning the tall double hung windows. The high ceilings and interior decor in the common rooms will easily transport you back to the Victorian period. Still, we’ve kept it casual and comfortable through our reuse of building materials and modern conveniences such as central heat and air conditioning and wireless internet. They are complimented by antiques from different eras and relics from Jeanna’s global travels. Relax in a rocker on the wrap around porch.
A few clues that this was once a working farm can be seen around the 6.2 acres of grounds. You’ll find the old root cellar, outhouse and chicken coop, now the backdrop for Jeanna’s vegetable garden. Guests can choose complete privacy by renting rooms in the barn. The property includes 100 year old pine trees, lovely flower gardens, and a water garden with fountains.
Located on the edge of town, at Whispering Pines you can retreat into seclusion, but you’ll be only blocks from the many local area attractions.

Whispering Pines Bed and Breakfast has earned certification through Greener Nebraska for its use of environmentally friendly practices in daily operations. We are glad we can demonstrate a dedication to protecting the environment. Some of the green practices we have implemented include: We recycle. There are containers available for guests to use and we participate in our local recycling program. There is a list on site to let you know what we can and cannot recycle. Many of our cleaning supplies are homemade. This not only saves our environment, but it saves on the wear of the equipment as well. And, we’re happy to share our recipes. Weather permitting, we hang our sheets and robes on the line to dry. This saves energy and provides fresh smelling linens to crawl into at night. Our lotions, shampoos and shower gels are purchased in bulk and we refill them. Jeanna Stavas is your innkeeper and your hostess. In August 2005, I took a step of faith and left Austin, Texas and my corporate technology role, returned to the mid-west and bought Whispering Pines Bed and Breakfast. I have found a way to use my passion for cooking and entertaining and my God given gift of hospitality. This turned out to be a way to return “home” to my mid-western roots after being away for over 20 years. I spent my time away, living in Arizona and Texas, but was blessed to have traveled extensively worldwide. Through these experiences, I believe I gained an understanding of quality accommodations. I also learned to embrace food as an experience, no matter your culture. Prior to my time in the business world, I spent nine years in the hospitality industry. Customer service is critical and I’m hopeful my experience and knowledge will ensure that your stay at Whispering Pines is pleasant and memorable. Around here, we’re often sharing travel stories, engaging in food or garden talk, discussing antiques, history or some other fascinating must-see. Building relationships is one thing I love to do and I welcome you to visit Whispering Pines. Many will come a stranger and leave a friend. I believe we have an amazing local area and community, have created many partnerships and am pleased to offer my concierge recommendations on the historic attractions, recreation, shopping and wining and dining options in the area. Although I do not reside in the main house along with the bed and breakfast rooms, my private innkeepers quarters are onsite, just a few feet away, in case I’m needed. We understand that for many guests, your pet is your family. We are happy to accommodate pets and their owners with just a few guidelines shown on our website. Three of our rooms are strictly “no pets”.Both of our pet friendly rooms have outside entrances so the common areas are also pet free.
