The Ohio Theatre is a quintessentially vintage, old-town movie theatre with a truly fascinating and remarkable history.

In 1938, the Ohio Theatre was constructed. For many years, this served as a gathering place for the locals to see a show, eat some refreshments, and take in the atmosphere of a historic monument.

Starring Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, and Shirley MacLaine, Some Came Running had its world debut here in December 1958. A Hollywood Star was set up in front of the theater as a memento of the occasion to celebrate the actors, and the movie that was shot in Madison!

The theater hosts a free summer movie series that young people from the surrounding area can enjoy, as well as the aroma of freshly popped popcorn that wafts out the doors and into Main Street’s busy streets. This place has served as a venue for numerous neighborhood events and continues to be a powerful, centripetal force for this incredible community.

In addition to movie screenings, the Ohio Theatre regularly hosts events, concerts, and plays! Visit the Ohio Theatre’s Facebook page to learn more!
