When the Missouri State Penitentiary was decommissioned in 2004, it became a historic landmark in the state’s capital of Jefferson City. There are a variety of tours from which guests can pick to spend their time, such as the historic tour, a ghost tour, or a photography tour. Guests will walk through several historic housing units, the outside yard of the prison and the gas chamber where 40 men and women were executed.
