Marsh’s Free Museum is a roadside stop that has been displaying a collection of oddities since 1921. With snake skins, beehives, a shrunken head, and Russian boars, Marsh’s is one of the most unique museums along the trail. After eyeing the eccentric assortment, visitors can play mechanical baseball and other vintage arcade games.
Marsh’s is most famous for being home to Jake the Alligator Man, the museum’s nightmarish yet enamoring cult figure. This mummified alligator with a human head has grown to celebrity status in the Pacific Northwest. The affordable museum gift shop sells postcards and bumper stickers with Jake’s likelihood on them. They also sell more typical coastal gifts from their collection of over 1,000,000 seashells and America’s largest collection of glass fishing floats.
As a bonus, the museum parking lot is home to the World’s Largest Chopsticks!
