Marengo Cave

Marengo Cave is a 7-acre historic and natural wonder. Discovered by a brother and sister in 1883, the cave was quickly opened for public tours.

Today the Marengo Cave is still as magnificent as it was 137 years ago. The Cave was declared a National Natural Landmark in 1984. With more attractions and tours today both inside the caves and outside. Today some might say that it looks like a place that should have been featured in Star Wars.

Inside the cave, there are two different trails to take, The Crystal Palace consists of speleothem, or cave deposits, of flowstone in abundance. This 40-minute tour is the easiest of the tours.

The Dripstone Trail is “Big. Really. Big.” The 60- minute tour consists of speleothem, of the delicate soda straw, totem pole stalagmites, and penny ceiling varieties.
