Omaha, Nebraska is a point along the 4900-mile-long Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail, a historic corridor that crosses 16 states and the lands of more than 65 native tribes.

The Lewis and Clark Headquarters in Omaha pays homage to the journey of Captain Meriwether Lewis and William Clark through exhibits that show visitors the way they traveled, camped, hunted, fished, and interacted with the native tribes on the trek West. Visitors have the opportunity to stretch their legs and enjoy the beauty of the Missouri River by walking across the Bob Kerrey pedestrian bridge to stand in two states at once, Nebraska and Iowa, or taking a bike ride along the river. Children – and adults – may enjoy cooling off on a hot summer’s day at the small splash pad located at the visitor’s center. Rangers are available on-site to give advice on interesting places to visit along the Lewis and Clark Trail.
