William Ordway Partridge, noted sculptor, artist and author, was commissioned in the late 1800’s to create the original 1 1/2 time life-sized bronze sculpture of William Clark. That sculpture was officially dedicated in 1904 during the Lewis and Clark Centennial.

The Clark family’s preservation efforts led to pulling a mold directly from the original Partridge bronze to ensure that this likeness of Clark is preserved in the event something happened to the original The mold is now owned by the family and will be handed down through generations to come. The family has agreed that no more than four replicas from this mold will be made. They will be sold to significant Clark landmarks in different states along the trail. Proceeds will be used to support the monument endowment fund.

This bronze bust sculpture is deemed accurate to the likeness of William Clark through the eyes of his family.
