Illinois has also produced a large number of MLB players through the last 120 years. To honor this history, Joe Kempe and Merle Wright opened up the BRS Baseball museum in Nokomis, Illinois. The baseball museum is dedicated to three greats with local ties: Jim Bottomley, Red Ruffing and Ray Schalk.
Bottingly had an exceptional baseball career, playing for the Cardinals and Reds. He even once set the single-game RBI record with 12. Red Ruffing was no slouch either. The hall-of-famer was an essential member of the Yankees 3-year dynasty in the late 30s. Ray Schalk had an incredible career in his own right. Widely, regarded as one of the greatest defensive players of all time and contributing heavily to the White Sox World Series victory in 1917. These three giants of Illinois baseball are honored at the BRS Museum
