Atchison is proud to be the hometown of aviatrix Amelia Earhart. We celebrate her every year on the third weekend of July with a festival.

Friday night is an outdoor country music concert at Warnock Lake overlooking Stan Herd’s permanent Amelia Earhart Earthwork.

Saturday is full of activities for the entire family including craft vendors, a children’s stage of entertainment, and musical entertainment on a second stage. We start Saturday morning with Breakfast With the Books and presentations by authors who have written about Amelia. A speaker’s symposium follows as well as a luncheon featuring our Pioneering Achievement Award winner; a woman who exemplifies the spirit of Amelia Earhart.

Evening entertainment on Atchison’s Missouri riverfront includes live music, an aerobatic show, and a “Concert in the Sky”; fireworks set to music.
