The 301 Gallery opened in 2018, adding a distinctly vibrant presence to the growing collection of galleries in Hood River and the Columbia Gorge.

301 Gallery’s focus is on quality fine art and craft, an elevated presentation, and an obvious passion for place. Disciplines represented by gallery members include oil painting, watercolor, pastel painting, acrylic painting, photography, ceramics, bronze sculpture, metals, jewelry, and glass.

Beyond the art collection, the setting is a fascinating experience for locals and visitors. 301 Gallery is housed in the historic Butler Bank building at 301 Oak Street in downtown Hood River. Designed by renowned architect A.E. Doyle and erected in 1924, the building stands as a meticulously restored example of the Egyptian Revival style. Incorporated into the layout of the thriving art gallery, the building retains elements of its past as a working commercial bank — a bank of safe deposit boxes graces an area close to the lobby, while the fascinating and immense vault door remains as a permanent monument near the back of the gallery.

The building’s broad spaces, soaring ceilings, and tall east-facing windows create a beautiful setting for the arts — and an enduring testament to Hood River’s long history in the Gorge.
