An essential component of the Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail Geotourism program is the creation of a Geotourism Stewardship Coalition.

This is a body of local and regional residents and stakeholder organizations from Trail partners, American Indian Nations, local, state, and federal agencies, and the public at large. They will provide the network through which the program is implemented.

The Coalition’s task is to work with and advise the National Park Service on the four elements of a geotourism strategy:

Coalition advice and activity will be in keeping with the interests of the communities, with good conservation and preservation practices, and with responsible economic development.
